Which one is the better solution when making a video hosting website?

A frequently-asked query:

hey, i am making a video publishing website.i have 2 choices,

1- upload my videos directly to my account and publish em on the website. or,
2- upload the vids on a 3rd party video hosting site(youtube) and have it published on my website

i really don’t get the the pros and cons of the those. which one is the better solution?

BTW i have an unlimited web hosting plan so i wont have any storage or bandwidth problems,hopefully.And yea il be publishing a lot of videos (>1000 and growing.. ). Thanks in advance

    Youtube has a better streaming interface, and you could play that to your advantage if you went with a site like that.

    You also run the risk of losing traffic to them because users may just go to Youtube to watch your videos.

    You might also want to look at youtube’s terms of service, because you can run the risk of violating them (I’m guessing not, but who knows) and having all of your videos taken down at a very inopportune time.

    Youtube also makes content management easier for uploading and linking to the videos.

    As for a recommendation, I can’t make one, because I don’t know enough about your situation.
