Question about web site hosting.?
A frequently-asked query:
Here’s my situation. I have thousands of pictures and home videos on my computer, but since I travel alot I can’t exactly take them all with me (Without using a external hard drive) I would like to have a website (I’ve already designed) so that way I can have all my pictures and videos on it. I would like to be able to access this media from anywhere there is internet. I believe I would have to have a server at my house to do this. Also I’d need a domain name. I just want to know the easiest way to make a private website (I don’t want others to access my family videos and pictures) that I can access from all over the US. I am willing to buy a server and domain name, which would cover hosting plans am I right? Any information on how to do all of this would be greatly appreciated.

1First you need a web host supporting multimedia files. If nobody knows your site address they are not able to find your site. Don’t also worry about search engines. Many webmasters kill themselves for years to be found by search enginse, but their attempts are all for nothing!
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.
They are a Multi-awarded Web Hosting which offer a Full-featured service only $6.95 a month. Their service is really perfect and uptime.
You can go there through the address below:
http://bluehost-service.atspace.com
Here I have copied and pasted its features from their website to view:

- Free Site Builder
- 24/7 Superb/Responsive Sales/Support

They also offer "Free Site Builder" that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any creating website programs. (WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get)

2I would suggest getting a domain name and a hosting plan through godaddy or some other hosting solution. with godaddy you can easily setup a website with there "application" section.
If you don’t want to have a monthly fee you can always setup something at your house. You can use No-IP.com to map your ip address to a domain through them (ex myhouse.no-ip.com). They have software that you can setup on your computer to update the ip address if it changes. You can then install a very simple web server software that you can get for free (ex bartware tiny webserver). Its pretty easy to setup.. Now, if you have a router you need to open Port 80 and map it to your computers local IP so the request will get to your computer.
